- Boulevard des airs is a French music band formed in 2004, originally from Tarbes (Hautes-Pyrénées, Occitanie region). In 2016, their single Brussels is successful in Belgium and France.
Group history
In 2004, in the yard of Marie-Curie high school in Tarbes (Occitanie), Boulevard des airs was born under the impetus of the Dasque brothers (Florent and Jean-Noel), Sylvain Duthu and Laurent Garnier. Coming from different bands with different musical backgrounds, they decided to continue their musical journey together under the name of Boulevard des Airs1 (also commonly called B.D.A)
If the band claims influences from the French song to electronic music their music is resolutely eclectic. The group, written mainly in French (sometimes in Spanish) a realistic poetry, between love, hope and an involved, responsible look, proposing lines of reflection on our contemporary societies.
Boulevard des airs was selected in 2005 by SMAC for an artistic accompaniment to La GESPE Tarbes2. After scouring the local scenes, the group ensures first noticed parts. A visit to the Olympia in January 2010, is worth to be presented as 'high hopes of the French scene' 3.
On July 17, 2011, Cielo Ciego and early 2012, San Clemente (I wanted to talk to you about women). Their debut album Paris-Buenos Aires is released on October 17, 2011.
It follows a tour of a hundred dates in France, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium and Canada. At the end of 2012, the band was chosen to perform the first parts of the Tryo group on ten Zenith and Paris-Bercy on March 28, 2013.
On December 13, 2012, the band is listed in the Victoires de la Musique 2013 list and on January 8, 2013, the band is named in the category 'Revelation Scene' 4.
The second album, Les Appareuses Trompences, is released on May 13, 2013, the first title from this album is Bla Bla. It is also composed of other titles that become known at the end of the album, such as Here (duet with the group Tryo), I'm sorry, or I remain calm in which the band has chosen a sound more electronic. This new album is followed by a tour of almost two years in France, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany ...
Two years after the release of their first album Paris-Buenos Aires, this one is certified gold5.
On January 1st, 2015, the group announced on its official website the release of a new album (scheduled for June 1st). The album will be reissued a year later in a deluxe version in which they will perform a duet with Zaz, but also with LEJ, Vianney (singer) and the singer of Ska-P. The album is titled Brussels, and the first title, Emmène-moi, is released on February 26, 2015 with its clip.
This first title (Emmène-Moi) knows, from its release, an important success with broadcasts on the big radios of the country and several millions of connections on the clip in a few weeks.
Their 3rd album Brussels is released June 1 and ranks directly in the top 10 best sellers in the country. The album is, like the previous ones, still eclectic, with the introduction of a flamenco song entitled Si je m'ators mon amour - intro, as well as other songs or lyrics that are sung in Spanish, such as Mentira, or Quiero soñar. One month after the release of the album the band is invited to the summit of the Pic du Midi for a historic concert.
The Brussels Tour starts on October 7th in Toulouse and will be the biggest tour of the group since it will cross a large number of countries: France, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Argentina, Uruguay, Germany, Polynesia ...
After a Trianon a few days after the complete attacks several weeks before the date the group announces that it will headline the Olympia in June 2016 which will also be full.
A few months after its release the album Brussels will be certified gold and platinum disc. This tour will be marked by the first Zéniths of the young formation.
The work of the group is called 'home made', 'artisanal'.
