阿斯特朗·吉爾伯托（Astrud Gilberto）出生於巴西巴伊亞州的巴西母親和德國父親的女兒阿斯特朗·伊万格琳娜·溫納特（Astrud Evangelina Weinert）。她在里約熱內盧被撫養。她於1959年與JoãoGilberto結婚，1963年移民到美國，當時居住在美國。 Astrud和João在二十世紀六十年代中期離婚，並與她的音樂合作夥伴，美國爵士樂薩克斯管演員Stan Getz開始了關係。
