The Black Keys 由主唱兼吉他手 Daniel“Dan”Auerbach 以及鼓手 Patrick“Pat”Carney 兩人組織而成，師承美國傳統藍調音韻，並延續龐克復興和迷幻搖滾氣味，大玩拼貼藝術本事，交疊出收放自若嗓音及多樣樂器演奏的極至發揮。早在 Brit-Pop 已了無新意玩不出新名堂之際，一股蓄勢待發的搖滾新勢力，早已虎視眈眈瞄準下一波樂勢走向。很快受到唱片公司青睞招攬旗下，2002 年首張專輯『The Big Come Up』贏得時代雜誌名列「2003 年 10 組表現最佳藝人」之中，隔年再接再厲問世之『Thickfreakness』廣泛獲得各界矚目，其中單曲”Set You Free”被搖滾瘋客 Jack Black 主演「School Of Rock/搖滾教室」選用為重點襯樂。創作力旺盛的 The Black Keys 持續在 2004-2006 年間推出兩張 EP『The Moan』與『Chulahoma：The Songs Of Junior Kimbrough』、一張專輯『Rubber Factory』以及一張德州演唱實錄特輯，逐步奠定樂壇基礎，同樣受到 Radiohead、Beck 等人肯定，至其巡迴演唱會擔任演出嘉賓。
